NHL 23: First 99 overall player in HUT has been revealed

Earning a 99 overall rating in sports video games is a rare feat, especially when it comes to the NHL franchise. In Madden, they have their 99 overall club, but NHL doesn’t give out 99 overalls in the base game. Instead they are only given in the Hockey Ultimate Team game mode. The first 99 overall rated player in NHL 23 Hockey Ultimate Team has been revealed and it may come as a bit of a surprise to you.

If I were to say the names Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Patrick Kane, Nathan MacKinnon, or Auston Matthews, and told you that they were the first player in NHL 23 HUT to get a 99 overall rating, you probably wouldn’t be surprised. If I told you that Brayden Point of the Tampa Bay Lightning is the first 99 overall in HUT, your eyes may widen just a bit. Well, it’s true. Brayden Point is the first player in NHL 23 HUT to receive a 99 overall rating.

It is not that Brayden Point isn’t a talented player, it is just that you would expect him to get the first 99 overall rating in this year’s HUT. There are plenty of other NHL players who are having career years that deserve that honor as well, but right now the spotlight is firmly on Brayden Point.

If you take a look at the year Brayden Point is having, you will notice that in the 44 games that he has played this year, he has accumulated 27 goals, 22 assists, and 49 points. Those are great numbers for the 26-year-old Lightning Center, and he is a main part of the Tampa Bay Lightning core that ultimately got them to the Eastern Conference Finals three years in a row and back-to-back Stanley Cup victories in 2020 and 2021.

If you are playing as the Tampa Bay Lightning outside of Hockey Ultimate Team, you will find out that Brayden Point is a top Center in NHL 23 with an 89 overall rating. Not quite a 90+ overall in NHL 23 outside of HUT, but the potential is surely there for future NHL video games.

Now that you are able to get a 99 overall Brayden Point in HUT, he is going to be a hot commodity for gamers to add to their roster. It is going to take a little while for the market to get a good read on the price he will go for but check the HUT shop and maybe you can purchase the first 99 overall NHL 23 HUT player for a reasonable price.
