If you are a fan of the Hitman franchise, there are big changes that are coming in the next few weeks. What will now have been 8 years ago, IO Interactive shared a vision on the Hitman franchise back in 2015. This vision would focus on the World of Assassination and be a game that evolved over time with all future Hitman video games. 8 years later, that vision is finally going to be a reality. IO Interactive announced that starting on January 26, Hitman 3 will become Hitman: World of Assassination.

What this means is the entire Hitman franchise is being rebranded under the title Hitman: World of Assassination. Hitman: World of Assassination will feature Hitman 1, Hitman 2, and Hitman 3, all in a single game purchase for $70. So basically, you can purchase and play the entire franchise for $70. The new price of video games going forward in 2023 anyways.

Hitman: World of Assassination is also going to be your only option of playing the entire franchise as well. On January 26, Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 will no longer be sold as individual games. If you are looking to play Hitman 1 or Hitman 2, the only way you are going to be able to purchase them would be as part of Hitman: World of Assassination. If you already own Hitman 3, you are in for a little bit of a treat.

If you currently own Hitman 3, you will receive a free upgrade to Hitman: World of Assassination on all of your platforms. Potentially earning you two additional Hitman games for free if you don’t own Hitman 1 or Hitman 2. The reason as to why IO Interactive is making this change to their franchise to ultimately make things simpler for new and existing players. New players will only have to make one purchase to get all Hitman content and existing players will get a ton of new Hitman content for free and it can all be found in one place.

What is included in Hitman: World of Assassination?

As I mentioned before, the biggest reason as to why this change is coming is because World of Assassination will feature all three Hitman games. However, Hitman 1 will also include the Game of the Year Access Pass and Hitman 2 will feature the Standard Access Pass. Both of these Passes include all the major content that was featured in these two base games giving you all the major content from those games.

If this isn’t enough Hitman content for your liking, there is actually a little bit more content that will be available to purchase as part of the Hitman: World of Assassination Deluxe Pack. The Deluxe Pack will cost roughly $30 and will feature the Hitman 3 Deluxe Pack, Hitman 3 Seven Deadly Sins Collection and the Hitman 2 Expansion Access Pass. Which when you break down the Deluxe Pack even further it equates to 2 additional destinations, 2 sniper maps, 7 deadly sins, 6 deluxe escalations plus contracts and challenges. A lot of extra content for an additional $30. If you already previously own any the Hitman 3 Deluxe Pack, Hitman 3 Seven Deadly Sins Collection or the Hitman 2 Expansion Access Pass, you can purchase the ones you don’t already own at $10 a piece.

If you are wondering how this will affect owners of Hitman 1 and Hitman 2, it won’t affect you at all. If you already own those previous installments, you can play still play them whenever you would like. However, if you are new to the series and want to play them, the only way you will be able to is by purchasing Hitman: World of Assassination. All existing copies of Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 will be pulled from all platforms.

IO Interactive are hoping that these changes are only going to make things simpler for the players, but for them as well. If you don’t own Hitman 3, now would be a perfect time to purchase it so that you can get Hitman 1 and Hitman 2 for free on January 26.
