Hogwarts Legacy delayed on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

If you ever wanted to become a student at Hogwarts, you are going to have the chance to do so in Hogwarts Legacy. Developed by Avalanche Software, Hogwarts Legacy was initially supposed to be released in 2021, but then the game got delayed until holiday 2022 and once again got delayed until February 2023.

Today, a third delay was announced, but only for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions of the game.

If you planned on purchasing Hogwarts Legacy on a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, or a PC, then the game is still scheduled to be released on February 10 and there is no extra delay at this point in time. If you are still using some of the older consoles such as a PlayStation 4 or and Xbox One, you are going to have to wait just a bit longer for the newest release date of April 4, 2023. If I didn’t name any of the consoles that you play up above and you are waiting to purchase this game on Nintendo Switch, then you will have to wait even longer until July 25, 2023.

This news actually gives out a lot more information than what it appears to be. For starters, this means that Avalanche Software has really taken the time to make sure that this game is ready for the next-gen consoles. They want to make sure that the most powerful consoles in the world are going to get the most time devoted to making sure the experience is exceptional on those consoles.

What this also tells us is that Avalanche Software isn’t planning on rushing out a product for older consoles. The clear focus is on the updated consoles, but they still want to make sure that if you are playing on a PlayStation 4 or an Xbox One, that you still get the best possible experience that you could on those platforms.

As stated in their Tweet, “The team is looking forward to bringing you the game and we want to deliver the best possible game experience across all platforms.”

Avalanche Software wants to clearly provide the best experience no matter where you stand on the platform that you currently use.

Obviously, this news is a bit annoying to some gamers, especially those who planned on purchasing Hogwarts Legacy on either delayed console or a Nintendo Switch. If you own a next-gen console or usually play on a PC, the game is still scheduled to release on February 10.

Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most anticipated games of 2023 and gamers cannot wait to get their hands on this one. In fact, Hogwarts Legacy was nominated for a 2022 Game Award at The Game Awards 2022 for the Most Anticipated Game category. It ultimately didn’t take home the award, but a nomination shows a lot for how big this game can actually turn out to be next year.
