Rocket League: What to expect from Frosty Fest 2022
Things are heating up and cooling down in Rocket League. That is because Season 9 of Rocket League is already out now and the main theme for this season is fire and ice. With all the new additions Season 9 is going to bring to the table, you are also going to witness the return of one of the greatest Winter Events in Rocket League. That would be Frosty Fest.
It was already confirmed that Frosty Fest would be making a return at some point during Season 9, but there are now more details on what we can expect from Frosty Fest 2022. Frosty Fest 2022 marks the sixth year this event will be making its way into Rocket League. First debuting in 2017, Frosty Fest is an event that not only kicks off the Winter Season but gets everyone ready for the holiday season as well.
Psyonix released a quick 45 second trailer to show off Frosty Fest 2022. Not only did the trailer get us into a very Winter mood, but it also showed us brief look as to what we can expect from Frosty Fest 2022. Luckily, we can elaborate a little bit more on what exactly will be coming into the game with this annual event.
New rewards, new challenges, and a new soundtrack
One of the most common things you can expect from new Rocket League events are new rewards and new challenges. Completing some of the new challenges that Frosty Fest 2022 offers will grant you some rewards in return. The rewards that you are given are all Lofi Girl and Winter themed rewards. Expect Lofi Girl wheels, toppers, decals, player banners and much more Winter themed items.
Golden Rewards will also be making a return with the Frosty Fest 2022 event. Just like how Golden Rewards have worked in the past, you will be able to earn up to a max of five Golden Gifts. With each Golden Gift that you earn and open, you will be granted an item either from the Elevation Series, Vindicator Series, or the Player’s Choice Item Series. Completing the Golden Rewards challenge usually isn’t too hard of a task to accomplish so it is definitely worth snagging a few items for free from the above three series.
Frosty Fest 2022 wouldn’t be complete without a little Winter music now, would it? Frosty Fest 2022 has had a new soundtrack specifically made for this event. The new soundtrack will feature five songs. Two of the songs will be by artist Kainbeats, two of the songs will be by artist Purrple Cat, and one song on the soundtrack will be by Xander. Each of the Player Anthems will cost 300 Credits each or to save a little bit of extra Credits, you can buy the full soundtrack for 800 Credits.
Three new game modes
Frosty Fest 2022 will last for three weeks. The event will begin on December 14 and end on January 3. Each week a new game mode will come and go.
Starting on December 14 and running until December 21, you will be able to play “Winter Breakaway.” Winter Breakaway is a hockey-based game mode where you will be able to do battle 3v3 on a snowy throwback Arena. The perfect type of game mode to kick off this event.
On December 21, Winter Breakaway will officially leave the game, but “Heatseeker Ricochet” will debut and last until December 28. The Rocket League community should be very familiar with Heatseeking game modes, except this one is going to have the Winter atmosphere surrounding it. Once you touch the ball in this game mode, it shoots it towards your opponent’s goal and vice versa until the ball is scored. The ball will get gradually faster, thus making it very hard to stop shots the longer each goal is played out.
The final game mode that will end Frosty Fest 2022 is “Knockout.” Knockout is another game mode that Rocket League fans should be fairly familiar with. For those who aren’t familiar with Knockout, Knockout is Rocket League’s version of a Battle Royale game mode. You can attack, block, and grab the other 7 opponents, but the goal is to simply be the last of the 8 players remaining. There is no ball and no goal. Just simply try and be the last car standing to win the match.
Even though this will be the sixth consecutive year Frosty Fest makes an appearance, each year proves to bring new content into Rocket League. With Frosty Fest 2022 set to begin on December 14, that gives you a little less than a week to dive into Season 9 and prepare for the last Rocket League event of 2022.
