Walmart: PS5 restock dates announced for the holidays
So you want to buy a PlayStation 5 this year. Spoiler: you’re not alone. The PS5 is one of this year’s most sought-after consoles but supply remains tight resulting in the two-year-old system being sold out nearly everywhere.
As I previously wrote, it’s near impossible to predict if you’ll be able to get a PS5 this holiday season; however, Sony and its retail partners are doing their best to keep up with demand.
Walmart just announced that it will be restocking PS5 console sand bundles this week. Naturally, supply is limited and the consoles will be made available in batches.
The first PS5 restock will go live on Monday, November 21 at 12:00 p.m. ET. However, these will only be available for Walmart+ members. At 7:00 p.m. ET, all customers will have the chance to purchase a PS5 — assuming there are any consoles left.
Walmart promised additional chances for all shoppers to buy a PS5 online on Wednesday, November 23 at 12:00 p.m. ET and in-stores and online on Black Friday (November 25).
We don’t know how many PS5 consoles will be available for purchase or how many will be made available to Walmart+ members during the first batch. Walmart only says that these consoles will be available “while supplies last.”
The fact that there are multiple drop dates seems to suggest they’ll be reserving some consoles for customers who aren’t Walmart+ members, although we don’t know how many.
If you’re looking to buy a PS5 this holiday season, your best chance through Walmart is to become a Walmart+ member. This costs $13 per month or $98 per year. Although free trials are available, they don’t provide early access to console restocks.
Walmart is one of the few retailers to provide notice for an upcoming PS5 restock. While there will hopefully be additional opportunities to buy a PlayStation 5 throughout the holiday season, we don’t know for certain.
