Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One new game releases in October 2022
After a quiet September for Xbox, things are picking up drastically in October. Next month marks the release of multiple AAA blockbusters, headlined by none other than Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. But beyond the next installment in Activision’s shooter franchise, what else do gamers have to look forward to on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One?
Admittedly, there’s little in terms of exclusives. Redfall and Starfield have both been delayed to 2023, and Forza Motorsport 7 isn’t due to arrive until spring 2023. But we’ve got a handful of third party titles coming our way.
Grasshopper Manufacture’s No More Heroes III marks the return of professional assassin Travis Touchdown, who must climb to the top of the Galactic Superhero rankings. The game will be returning to its open world format last seen in the series’ first game and features real-time hack-and-slash action.
For the superhero enthusiasts, get ready to join the Bat Family in Gotham Knights. In this open-world, action RPG, you’ll play as or with Nightwing, Batgirl, Robin and Red Hood as they attempt to restore justice to Gotham City following Batman’s disappearance.
If you’re looking for a bit of a scare during spooky season, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed has got you covered. In this asymmetric multiplayer game you’ll play as either a member of the Ghostbusters or a mischievous ghost. As a Ghostbuster, your job is the catch the pesky ghost. As the ghost, you must avoid the Ghostbusters while completing haunting objectives.
Of course, the highlight of October is the release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This is a direct sequel to the 2019 reboot and a reimagining of one of the best Call of Duty titles of all-time. Activision just held an open beta for the multiplayer and the response was it becoming the largest beta in Call of Duty history. For those more interested in the updated free-to-play battle royale spinoff, Warzone 2.0, you’ll have to wait until November.
