Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s release is a little more than a month away but today marks our first hands-on experience with the next installment in Activision’s blockbuster franchise. Following this week’s Call of Duty: Next, Activision has launched the multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The beta will run for multiple weekends with different subsets of players able to play during certain times. Eventually, everyone will be able to play across any platforms — Xbox, PlayStation and PC — regardless of pre-order status.

And if you have the time, you may want to play. Participating in the beta gives you the chance to unlock exclusive rewards. All you have to do is play and level up. These cosmetic rewards will carry over into the full game when it launches in October.

There are a total of ten Beta Rewards and each of them are unlocked just by simply leveling up. As you progress through your various levels and unlock these rewards, they will immediately become available to you as soon as the full game is released on October 28. Not only will you be able to use these rewards and equip them in the Beta, but you will also be able to use them and equip them in the full game as long as you have unlocked them in the Beta.

There is also a little bit of an extra incentive as Beta rewards will also be available during the new Call of Duty: Warzone releasing later on this year. You are going to unlock all of these rewards naturally if you play the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Beta long enough, but it is nice to see that these rewards will translate to the full game and also the new Call of Duty: Warzone as well.
