Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is set to hit shelves on October 28, 2022. But you’ll actually be able to play the game ahead of that date as Activision has already confirmed plans for a beta.
There are a couple different ways that you can get into the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta. If you pre-order the game, you will have early access to the Open Beta. Infinity Ward did not release any specifics as when gamers can expect to be given access to the Open Beta. However, if you pre-order Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on PS5 or PS4, you will get to play the Open Beta five days earlier than any other console.
There are a variety of different versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 that might jog your interest. Regardless of what edition you decide to pre-order, you will eventually have access to the Open Beta which is highly likely to focus solely on Multiplayer. The Campaign portion of the video game will most likely be locked.
Open Betas are great for a couple of reasons. First, it allows you to get your hands on the game without “officially” purchasing it in full. It is a unique experience that allows you to play through the game, get a feel for it and share their feedback, which leads me into reason number two. The feedback that developers receive from Beta testing is a way to fix and better certain aspects of the video game based on feedback from their target audience. It is a win for both parties and it does everyone a favor.
Once you pre-order Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, you will be on the list for the Open Beta. All you have to do is wait until Activision or Infinity Ward provides you with the Beta code and you will be golden. Pre-orders are actually available as of right now. The best part about it all is that you don’t even have to pre-order the game in full until it is officially released or shipped to you if you pre-ordered the game online.
Based off of past experiences, we can guess that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Open Beta will take place somewhere between the first week of September and the second week of October. It wouldn’t make a ton of sense to have it any earlier than September and any later than the second week of October and the game is virtually ready to be released.
If Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is something that you planned on purchasing anyway. You might as well do it sooner rather than later. This way not only will you get the video game that you intend on getting anyway, but you will be ready for the Open Beta as soon as Beta codes start to get sent out.
