Madden 23 Week 1 Roster update confirmed for next week
For football fans waiting for the Week 1 roster update to come to Madden 23, we still have about another week to wait. Madden’s ratings adjustor Dustin Smith confirmed that the Week 1 roster update, which will contain all of the latest roster changes since the 53-man cut deadline, will arrive “next week.” Although he didn’t specify a day, it’s likely to come on Thursday, September 8, just before the kickoff of the first regular season game of the 2022-23 NFL season.

Although EA has released smaller roster updates throughout the preseason, there won’t be one this week. This is likely due to the sheer number of transactions that were made or will be made between cut down day, which was Tuesday, and Week 1 of the regular season
As there are still likely a lot of transactions that will take place over the weekend and into next week, EA would rather just hold off and release one massive roster update. This will likely contain all — or most — of the roster adjustments made. This includes free agent and waiver signings, unexpected releases, surprise trades and more. For example, the Philadelphia Eagles just recently traded former first-round draft pick Jalen Reagor to the Minnesota Vikings.
When the update does land, this will be the most accurate rosters, reflective of each team’s 53-man roster. So if you’ve been waiting to start franchise mode for this, you might want to wait until at least Thursday.
That being said, most of the roster transactions taking place across the NFL landscape right now is mostly to do with the backend of the rosters and practice squads. Most of the starting rosters in the game right now feel pretty accurate and up-to-date.

It’s also worth mentioning that the roster update is separate from Madden’s anticipated Title Update, which should address many of the game’s bugs and glitches. However, it’s quite possible that the game’s first major Title Update should arrive shortly as well.
