It’s almost football season! The NFL preseason is just weeks away and Madden 23 is right around the corner. This year’s game is set to release on August 19 and it will be available for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC. But is there any chance it will come to Nintendo Switch?

Will Madden 23 come to Nintendo Switch?

As of right now, the answer is no. Madden 23 is not coming to Nintendo Switch and probably never will.

In fact, there has never been a Madden game released on Nintendo Switch. The last time a Madden game was available on a Nintendo console was in 2012 with Madden 13 on the Nintendo Wii and Wii U.

That’s not to say the football franchise won’t ever return to a Nintendo console, though. In recent years, we’ve seen numerous sports franchises come to Nintendo’s platform, including NBA 2K, FIFA and MLB The Show.

Admittedly, the Switch versions tend to leave a lot to be desired. The limitations of the console’s hardware often result in lackluster graphics and, even worse, poor frame rate.

The Switch version is also often considered to be on the same level as the last-gen, which means we don’t get to experience next-gen features. For Madden 23, this would mean no FieldSENSE if the game ever did come to the platform. For FIFA 23, the Switch version won’t make use of the new HyperMotion2 technology.

Despite the system’s noticeable weaknesses, I’m still rooting for Madden to come to the Nintendo Switch. The prospect of taking the game with me on the go and being able to play it anywhere would probably offset any technical limitations that may come with it.
