The one thing about the Madden video game franchise is that there is always a buzz around which players are going to be featured in the 99 Club. That is the exclusive club reserved for players honored with the highest possible rating in Madden — a 99 Overall.

Back in May, prior to the reveal of Madden 23, we had numerous leaks regarding player ratings. EA immediately denied the accuracy of the leaks, and it appears that the leaked 99 Club members were at least incorrect.

We know they were incorrect because EA has just revealed the first member of Madden 23’s 99 Club and they weren’t on the leaked list. While we don’t have a full list of players joining the 99 Club for Madden 23, we do know that San Francisco 49ers Offensive Tackle Trent Williams will be one of those players getting the honor this year.

NFL star running back Adrian Peterson posted a video on social media of Trent Williams being honored with an entry into the Madden 99 Club. While there has been no official statement from EA Sports themselves, this video seems to be confirmation enough. The video shows Trent Williams opening an official Madden 23 99 Club box that is rewarded to everyone who is invited into this elite club.

If you look at where Trent Williams was rated in Madden 22, he wasn’t that far off from joining the Madden 99 Club last year. Williams was rated a 98 overall and the way he had impacted the game with his pure skills last year made it seem like he was nearly a 99 overall. He is arguably the best Left Tackle in the NFL, and this 99 overall rating proves just that.

There is also a little bit of Madden franchise history taking place with this news. Trent Williams will be the first-ever Offensive Lineman in Madden franchise history to be rated with a 99 overall. This is exciting news and just shows how valuable Trent Williams is to the San Francisco 49ers.

If the San Francisco 49ers are looking to get back into the postseason this year, they are going to need to have Trent Williams at the top of his game. If they can get similar production from him this year as they did last year, they can be a contender to make it into the postseason this year as well.

As far as any of the other players that are going to be joining the Madden 99 Club in Madden 23, we will just have to wait and see. If we compare it to Madden 22’s 99 Club, we can expect anywhere from 5-7 players to get the honor this year in Madden 23.

Madden 23 is scheduled to be released on August 19, 2022, and is set to be released just in time for the start of the 2022-2023 NFL season. Player ratings should begin to get revealed this month.
