Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

Patrick Mahomes was previously leaked as a 99 overall and the only quarterback to be in Madden 23’s “99 Club.” I know many say Patrick Mahomes had a down season last year and that may be true, but that’s based on his own standards that he has set. Mahomes has helped redefined the quarterback position and, quite honestly, we’ve been spoiled by his play these past couple of seasons.

In his five years in the league, four of which he has been a starting quarterback, Mahomes has been a Pro Bowler four times. He’s a human highlight reel, putting up video game numbers both in the air and on the ground.

Despite being only 26 years old, Mahomes has already won a Super Bowl (and lost another). Last year, he was part of one of the most exciting Divisional Playoff games ever, winning a thrilling overtime shootout against the Buffalo Bills.

Mahomes began last season as part of Madden 22’s “99 Club” but was relegated to a 98 overall in Week 8. He ultimately finished the season with a 97 overall rating. But despite it being a “down year” for Mahomes, he still threw for 37 touchdowns. It was the turnovers — 13 interceptions — that hurt him.

While the argument can be made that Patrick Mahomes is the best quarterback in the league or at least the most explosive at the position, I still believe he should be behind Aaron Rodgers, or at the least evenly rated with him.

I see him Mahomes a slight bump this year based on his overall season and playoff performance plus his potential talent. But I don’t think EA gives him the perfect rating yet.
