If you are wondering why you would need or want to get to Mohgwyn Palace, that is because that is where Mohg, Lord of Blood is located.  Mohg, Lord of Blood, drops one of the seven Great Runes that are located in Elden Ring making this area a must visit.

Below is a complete walkthrough of how to locate Mohgwyn Palace early on in your journey in Elden Ring. It requires you to obtain Pureblood Knight’s Medal.

How to get to Mohgwyn Palace in Elden Ring

In order to travel to Mohgwyn Palace, you will first want to make sure that you have defeated Godrick the Grafted. Godrick is a Demi-God, meaning he will also drop a Great Rune, and he’s the first story boss that you face on your Elden Ring journey. So chances are if you are reading this guide and trying to find Mohgwyn Palace, you have already defeated Godrick. However, if you haven’t, you must go and take care of him first.

Early on in your Elden Ring journey, you may have noticed an NPC by the name of “White-Faced Varre.” Varre is an NPC that you’ll probably talk to when you exit the game’s tutorial. He will offer you advice on how to get to the Stormveil Castle. After you kill Godrick though, he will no longer be in the same spot you found him at in the beginning.

Varre can then be found at the Rose Church in Liurna of the Lakes.  If you go up and talk to him, he will give you the Festering Bloody Fingers. These Bloody Fingers is a multiplayer item that allows you to invade another players world with an opportunity to kill those players for Runes and Rune Arcs.

Once you have the Festering Bloody Fingers, you are going to want to use them to invade other players worlds. You don’t need to successfully come away with a kill in the other players world, but these Festering Bloody Fingers will need to be used at least three times before you can progress any further.

Once you successfully invade other players’ worlds three times, the option to be “anointed” will become available once you go and talk to Varre again. Click this option and he is going to send you on one final quest before you can travel to Mohgwyn Palace. After you are anointed, you are going to have to soak the “Lord of Blood’s Favor” cloth that is given to you into blood from a Finger Maiden.

The Frenzied Flame Village in Liurna of the Lakes is located in the North-East portion of the region. If you travel North from this location, you should find the Church of Inhibition. In the Church of Inhibition, there should be a body of a Finger Maiden where you are able to soak the “Lord of Blood’s Favor” cloth into the Maiden’s blood. This is where you enter the home stretch to this guide.

Bring the bloody cloth back to Varre and give it to him. You will receive a Bloody Finger for completing his task. This Bloody Finger will allow you to invade as many player’s worlds as you would like to. However, that is not the main item you are looking for. You are going to want to talk to Varre one last time and doing so, he will grant you with the Pureblood Knight’s Medal. This Medal is what you have been working towards the whole time. All that is left to do now is go to your inventory and use the Pureblood Knight’s Medal to teleport yourself to Mohgwyn Palace.

The teleportation will take you straight to Mohgwyn Palace and you can begin your exploration there and even take on Mohg, Lord of Blood, if you are looking to capture another Great Rune. There is also another way that you can get to Mohgwyn Palace later on in Elden Ring, but that requires you to find a gateway teleporter in the frozen north of Consecrated Grounds. Maybe you haven’t reached that portion of the game yet and would like to make an earlier and easier trip to Mohgwyn Palace with this method.
