Elden Ring: How to acquire and activate all seven Great Runes
During you current playthrough of Elden Ring, you may or may not have crossed paths with Great Runes as of yet. If you haven’t gotten your hands on any Great Runes yet, that means you haven’t defeated any Demi-Gods. Demi-Gods are the biggest bosses that Elden Ring has to offer.
While there are tons of bosses in the game as a whole, Demi-Gods are the cream of the crop main bosses. Each Demi-God guards one of the six Great Runes. In order to complete your quest to conquer the Lands Between, you will have to embark on a journey to capture all six Great Runes to fight against Elden Ring’s final boss.
Great Runes are not just for show. These magical Runes can be equipped to acquire different types of passive bonuses. If collecting them to face off against the final boss wasn’t enough incentive, a little passive bonus might sweeten the deal a little bit.
List of all seven Great Runes
- Godrick’s Great Rune
- Great Rune of The Unborn
- Malenia’s Great Rune
- Radahn’s Great Rune
- Morgott’s Great Rune
- Rykard’s Great Rune
- Mohg’s Great Rune
The goal to acquire all seven of these Great Runes are simple. Defeat each designated Demi-God and the Great Rune is all yours.
Godrick’s Great Rune (+5 all attributes)
If you travel to Stormveil Castle, you will be greeted with Godrick the Grafted. After you defeat Godrick the Grafted you will have acquired his Great Rune.
Unfortunately any Great Runes that you acquire have no power until they have their power restored at their respective Divine Tower.
Godrick’s Great Rune can be activated at the Divine Tower of Limgrave. If you don’t activate these Runes at their respective tower’s, their powers will be useless to you.
The easiest was to find the Divine Tower of Limgrave is to fast travel to the Limgrave Tower Bridge site at Stormveil castle. Follow the path until you reach a large door to the tower. After you make your way through the doors, begin to ascend the tower. When you make it to the top of the tower, you will discover a Site of Grace. When you make it all the way to the peak, you will notice a glowing sigil in the center of the area where you can successfully restore power to Godrick’s Great Rune. The power of Godrick’s Great Rune grants the player +5 on all attributes.
Great Rune of The Unborn (Grants Rebirth)
This Great Rune is obtained by defeating Rennala Queen of the Full Moon in the Raya Lucaria Academy. It grants you the ability to Rebirth, or respc your character, using a Larval Tear. It’s also the only Great Rune in the game that you don’t have to activate.
