Dragonlord Placidusax is an optional boss in Elden Ring, but if you’re trying for all the Trophies and Achievements, you’re going to have to defeat him. He’s kind of tricky to find though, so here’s a quick walkthrough on his secret location.

Where to find Dragonlord Placidusax in Elden Ring

Dragonlord Placidusax is located in a secret area of the Crumbling Farum Azula. This is an late game area that you’ll explore towards the end of the main story.

The easiest way to reach Dragonlord Placidusax is to use the “Beside the Great Bridge” site of grace, which is just before the Black Blade boss fight. From here, head down the lift (not up the stairs). Once you reach the bottom, run down the spiral stairs, through the hallway and outside. You’ll see some trees and a lantern so you’ll know you’re in the right place. Also, you can just ignore the enemies.

As you run to the edge of the rock, aim your camera downward and look for a little rock ledge to jump to. If you’re lucky, you’ll see some messages from other players to guide you. Jump down and continue jumping to each rock platform. Eventually you’ll reach a platform that looks like the wall of a colosseum. Again, you’ll see some messages — at least one. This message gives you the option to “Lie down.” Do so and you’ll activate a cutscene that will lead to the fight with Dragonlord Placidusax.

How to beat Dragonlord Placidusax

Dragonlord Placidusax is arguably one of the tougher dragon bosses in Elden Ring. I was around level 145 with a maxed out Mimic and Sword of Night and Flame. Even with this overpowered combination, he still hits pretty hard so try not to get hit.

Early in the fight, Dragonlord Placidusax will call down lightning from the sky and breathe fire in an AOE in front of him. These are pretty easy to dodge.

His most dangerous move is when he flies into the sky. Make sure you keep a look out to see where he’s flying from so you can appropriately dodge his landing. At about 50% health, he’ll start doing another move where he vanishes and then returns somewhere else. He also does an electric claw swipe, but it’s pretty easy to dodge.
