New Nintendo Switch game releases in March 2022
It was a relatively quiet month for the Nintendo Switch in February, although we certainly have plenty to look forward to this year with the recent announcement of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. Things pick up a bit more this month with some very exciting exclusives.
Headlining the March lineup of new Nintendo Switch game releases is Triangle Strategy, a game I’ve very much been looking forward to since it was first announced a year ago. Developed in collaboration between Square Enix and Artdink with Square Enix producer Tomoya Asano (Bravely Default, Octopath Graveler) leading the project. Unlike those critically acclaimed games, Triangle Strategy is a tactical RPG with a mature story focusing on conflict in the fictional continent of Norzelia.
From Vandal Hearts to Final Fantasy Tactics to XCOM, I’ve been a longtime fan of tactics games and it looks like Triangle Strategy is very much in line with this gameplay. What’s especially cool about this game is the decisions and choices you make throughout the story will directly affect the battle as it will determine which characters support or oppose your cause.
Chocobo GP is a kart racing game spun off from the beloved Final Fantasy franchise. It’s a sequel to the 1999 PlayStation game Chocobo Racing and follows various characters entering a racing tournament with a prize of “a wish for anything their heart desires.” The characters and courses in Chocobo GP are drawn from various Final Fantasy games, so there’s definitely going to be plenty of fun easter eggs.
While there’s plenty more to look forward to for Nintendo Switch in March, the third big game I’m looking forward to is Kirby and the Forgotten Land from HAL Laboratory. This is the 17th mainline installment in the Kirby series but the first 3D mainline game in the series, so it will be interesting to see how that feels. Trailers have looked impressive so far.
