Getting the Eevee evolution you want in Pokemon GO is entirely up to chance. That is, unless you know the tricks to get the one you want. Here are the three ways how to get a Sylveon in Pokémon GO.

How to get a Sylveon in Pokemon GO


To evolve Eevee, you need 25 Eevee candy. From here, you can use one of the following three methods to get Sylveon.

1) Chance

When Eevee evolves in Pokemon GO, it randomly evolves into one of its possible forms. This normal way is entirely up to chance, so I don’t recommend going for it unless you have tons of Eevee and Candy burning a hole in your account.

2) Nickname

The “name trick” involves naming your Eevee a certain nickname before evolving. Each nickname only works once per account, so save this for evolving a Shiny Eevee into a Shiny Sylveon if you can. The nickname you need to use is “Kira”. After it evolves, you can set the name back to whatever pleases you.

3) Buddy

In the mainline games, Eevee evolves into Sylveon when its affection is high. Not to be confused with the friendship mechanic that Umbreon and Espeon use, affection is acquired by playing with your Eevee.

In Pokemon GO, affection is represented with the Buddy Adventure. Set Eevee as your buddy and you’ll earn hearts as you do various activities.

You can earn hearts by playing with your Eevee in AR mode, battling together, taking photos of it, visiting new PokeStops, giving it treats and walking with it.

You need to get Eevee to Great Buddy status (70 hearts) to evolve it into Sylveon.

Sylveon is Eevee’s Fairy type evolution. It’s great at countering the powerful Dragon, Dark and Fighting type Pokemon that tend to dominate the PvP meta. Sylveon is also resistant to those types as well, making it a safe lead Pokemon.
