Starfield Steam page now live as anticipation grows for 2022 release
Starfield is one of 2022’s most anticipated games. Dubbed by Bethesda as “Skyrim in space,” the upcoming sci-fi epic will take us on a journey amongst the stars “to answer humanity’s greatest mystery.”
I’m not entirely sure what that mystery is and Bethesda has been pretty cryptic when it comes to trailers or detailed explanations for the game. This week, the Steam page for Starfield went live and while there’s little new offered in terms of details, it means we’re one step closer to the game’s launch.
As a reminder, Starfield is set to release on November 11, 2022. It will, of course, be an Xbox and PC exclusive, much to the disappointment of PlayStation gamers. That shouldn’t have come as too much of a surprise, however, as Microsoft paid big bucks to acquire Bethesda.
Details on the Steam page confirm a lot of what we already know about the game. It’s the first original RPG from Bethesda Game Studios in 25 years, and it’s a single-player, sci-fi RPG.
Bethesda is starting to ramp up marketing for Starfield, releasing another developer diary. “Into the Starfield: The Endless Pursuit” features Game Director Todd Howard, Studio Director Angela Browder and Art Director Matt Carofano as they discuss how Bethesda’s ambitions and previous history with games (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4) helped shape Starfield.
In the video, Howard talks about how the technology has changed. It’s no secret that Bethesda’s titles have suffered from dated technology and while I wasn’t exactly blown away with the graphics from the images and brief teaser that we’ve seen, I’m more intrigued with what next-gen hardware will mean for the RPG aspect of the game. I’m particularly curious as to how deep the player choices will go and how much they will actually impact the story of the game, perhaps giving more replay value.
Starfield is due out on November 11, 2022 for Xbox Series X|S and PC.
