The Nintendo Switch has gotten off to a roaring start in 2021. February alone saw the release of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, Persona 5 Strikers and Bravely Default II. But as we turn the calendar page, there’s even more for Switch owners to look forward to in March.

The highlight of the month is easily the release of Monster Hunter Rise, the next installment in Capcom’s action role-playing series. Monster Hunter Rise is essentially Monster Hunter: World (which sadly never made its way to the Switch), with many of the same gameplay conventions brought over and, in some cases, expanded upon.

The game features new and returning monsters to hunt, a new palamute animal companion, and the wirebug. The wirebug is easily the most exciting new addition as it opens up new traversal options as well as combat interactions with each of the weapons in the game. A demo for Monster Hunter Rise was offered in January so hopefully, you got a chance to check it out. If not, you can rest easy knowing it was met with an enthusiastic response.

If you’re a fan of the Monster Hunter series, you’re going to watch to jump into Monster Hunter Rise when it releases March 26. As of this writing, the game has only been announced for Nintendo Switch and it doesn’t sound like there are plans to bring it to Xbox or PlayStation.

Respawn Entertainment’s hit battle royale game Apex Legends will finally make its debut on the hybrid console, along with EA’s third-person shooter Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville. For RPG fans out there, the critically acclaimed Kingdoms of Amalur: Re-Reckoning will make its way to the Switch next month as well.

Here are some of the noteworthy Nintendo Switch games coming in March 2021:

  • Harvest Moon: One World – March 2
  • Sea of Solitude: Director’s Cut – March 4
  • Apex Legends – March 9
  • Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time – March 12
