Live concert hosted by Post Malone for Pokemon
The P25 Music program is hosting a live concert featuring Post Malone as the guest of honor! What an exciting time for Pokemon and music!
A huge surprise has revealed itself during the countdown to celebrate the anniversary of Pokemon. With the celebration of Pokemon reaching twenty-five years, a certain spotlight of fame has highlighted the celebration through music. It was known earlier this year that Katy Perry would be the premier artist for the P25 Music program, which also included a surprise to feature some of music’s biggest names to collaborate on the project. Last week, Post Malone was featured in a teaser that leaked about him headlining a virtual concert for a Pokemon themed show. It is amazing seeing all these musical personalities come together for this major celebration for the franchise. Through all major genres of music, we are more than positive that it will include more than Katy Perry and Post Malone.
The excitement and energy that Katy Perry brings to this celebration will have a major influence on pop music represented with all things Pokemon. During the “25 Years of Memories” video originally releases in Jan. on the Pokemon Company’s official YouTube page, the video walked us through the years on how Pokemon has been played, watched, collected, and everything else that made us fall in love with the franchise. Close to the end of the video showed a concert setlist that said “Katy Perry & Pokemon” in bright lights that kicked a disco ball to start a record player that featured recorded Pokemon music. With twenty-five years in the business, there are all kinds of pop artists that have been influenced by Pokemon. It is more than excited to see what is more in store from other genres.
The Post Malone teaser was more than unexpected. The short clip features Post Malone arriving at a destination for a show and walking backstage with a short narration by the rapper. He admits that after twenty-five years, it has been solely the fans that have been the driving point of making this franchise as big as it has become. The clip ends with Post Malone holding a Pokeball and being animated in a version of himself, getting ready to take the stage for a show as if it was a Pokemon battle. Being interviewed over the matter, Post Malone is more than excited to contribute to the celebration of Pokemon’s anniversary. He admits being a fan of the franchise himself, and contributing to the music part of Pokemon is a huge deal to him.
Post Malone is a huge influence in pop especially from his main genres of hip-hop. The dynamic of different music genres being displayed through the P25 Music program will be interesting enough to hear Pokemon inspired songs. Through games of the franchise, several non-playable characters have displayed their major influence of music for their character development. Gym leaders like Roxie and Piers have displayed their training technique to influence the music they play, with rock and punk being their passions as Poison and Dark-type trainers respectively. It will be amazing to see different real-life musicians cosplay different characters from the Pokemon franchise when they go on to perform with the P25 Music program. If this is a major display of the virtual concert, it will be more than exciting to see this show!
The P25 music program is a huge milestone victory for everything music related when it comes to Pokemon. Looking back over the past twenty-five years, there has been an absence of music culture in Pokemon for a good amount of time. The use of musical acts has not been used for Pokemon since the second major Pokemon film, Pokemon 2000. With the first two Pokemon films being released during the beginning of the fad, pop music acts were used for both of these film’s movie soundtracks. These pop acts in the 1990s and 2000s included some huge names those decades, including Britney Spears, *NSYNC, Aaron Carter, Dream Street, O-Town, and many more associated music acts. It makes fans of both music and Pokemon wonder what artist will be featured during this celebration, even crazier to consider if any of the pop acts from prior years will return to celebrate Pokemon!
Post Malone will be featured in the virtual concert for Pokemon’s anniversary on the physical date of the anniversary. The concert will be available to watch from the official Pokemon website, and most likely will be a live stream from the official Pokemon YouTube channel. The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Eastern time (4 p.m. Pacific) where trainers and fans can stream the concert virtually. With the concert hosted by Post Malone, it is assumed that the rapper will have inspired music on display for all to hear. The same should go for Katy Perry and any other associated music act that will be included in the concert. Hopefully, after the concert is over, there will be a playlist available for trainers to subscribe to that included the setlist used for the show.
Music and Pokemon have meshed together during a special time of music. From the end of the CD and cassette era to the new digital era of music; there is evidence that all genres of music have been inspired by Pokemon. This virtual concert put on by the P25 Music program, Katy Perry, and Post Malone is the next generation of music being inspired by a video game. Through the influence of Pokemon and music, this anniversary for the franchise is going to be one for the record books; and even more memorable for anniversaries to come!
