Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury is absolutely filled to the brim with cool stuff. You can see my review on how awesome the game is.

Pixelated Luigis hiding in every stage. Power-ups all over the place. Things in place to help you if you start losing enough in a single stage. Even a killer multiplayer and an entire second game added to it in the form of Bowser’s Fury. Believe it or not, if you’re an Amiibo collector like me, there’s actually more you can get.

While any Amiibo can give you a 1-up mushroom by scanning it in the middle of a stage, you can achieve special effects in Super Mario 3D World if you use the following Amiibos:

  • Cat Mario
  • Cat Peach
  • Bowser
    • Smash Brothers
    • Super Mario
    • Wedding Outfit
    • Hammer Slam
    • Dark Hammer Slam
  • Bowser Jr.

Amiibo Effects in Super Mario 3D World

While Bowser and Bowser Jr. doesn’t do much in this game except throw a super star your way, Cat Mario and Cat Peach are the big Amiibos for this game mode.

When you scan Cat Peach, she’ll grant you a random power-up which can help in almost any stage, especially when you find yourself one hit away from beefing it.

Cat Mario however, is the GOAT Amiibo in this game. Scanning him gives you the White Cat Suit. Much like the Gold Leaf, the White Cat Suit gives you invincibility but also all the climbing and clawing that comes with the cat suit. This pretty much allows you to tear through about any stage in the game if you find yourself having troubles. It’s also a godsend if you have a younger kid who’s still learning.

Amiibo Effects in Bowser’s Fury

Cat Mario and Cat Peach still do the same thing which really goes a long way, especially the White Cat Suit.

The big change here is the usefulness of the Bowser and Bowser Jr. Amiibos.

Bowser Jr. works like a POW block, creating a massive shockwave that knocks out enemies and standard blocks clearing out obnoxious enemies and breaking away large chunks of blocks. Really fun if you’re a second player controlling Bowser. Jr.

But let’s say there are blocks too big for the shockwave of Bowser Jr. to clear out? What do you do then? There’s where the Bowser Amiibo comes in.

Scanning the Bowser Amiibo wakes up the giant dark Bowser himself causing him to attack. Normally that’s not the best thing, but if you’re run into a bunch of those blocks only a giant kaiju can take out, this is just the thing to make it happen.
