The New Pokemon Snap trailer that released earlier this week reveals the character gameplay and even more surprises that this adventure calls!

Another teaser trailer of New Pokemon Snap for the Nintendo Switch was revealed by the Pokemon Company yesterday. Fans of Pokemon went wild after learning of a game from their past time getting some major recognition after being away for so long. Even more so when a long-awaited sequel is a more uplifting way to get more fans involved from an early classic that was around for the early years of Pokemon. The franchise is celebrating its 25th anniversary, and releasing a sequel to the original Pokemon Snap is one of the best ways to celebrate the franchise for this year.

The new trailer kicked off with a new character walking to what looks like a Pokemon research facility. The playable character starts inspecting what seems to be a digital camera, a different look to the obnoxious camera that the player wielded in the original Pokemon Snap. The build-up of the next few scenes with the music sounding more encouraging warps the trainer to the different variety of courses that the player will observe and take photos of Pokemon for whatever researcher they are taking photos for. In the prior game, the player played as Todd Snap, the photographer, who would be taking photos of Pokemon for Professor Oak. In this trailer, it seems that the researcher looks like Todd Snap all-grown-up and is passing the torch to a new character. Although this is all in speculation, the researcher in the new trailer has yet to be confirmed.

The title screen flashes for the trailer revealing New Pokemon Snap and starts to show all the landscapes the player will be exploring. From lush jungles to tropical paradises, there are handfuls of Pokemon from all over the Pokemon world that need to have their beautiful photo taken. A difference that already shows in this new adaptation of the game, is that the player will have the option of deciding if the playable character will be male or female; an option that was limited due to the fact that the player was playing as Todd Snap. Gamefreak and Nintendo are taking extra care in knowing who in their gaming audience is playing their game; especially when giving the option for players to decide who they want to play as.

Another difference that is already in observation from the first Pokemon Snap to the New Pokemon Snap, is that whenever the player is taking photos at a certain level that the timeframe during the level will be a sensitive factor when taking photos. Since the original Pokemon versions of generation one, different times of the day have been introduced to show what Pokemon behave during certain hours, whether night or day. This was also driven even further in other games when it came to introducing seasons and climates where certain Pokemon make their habitats. This is an interesting concept of the game that the player will constantly go back to levels to see what Pokemon interact at certain timeframes so the player can take different photos of Pokemon! This exchange is first observed when the trailer reveals a Meganium glowing in the middle of the night.

Several other Pokemon with their preference of climate and landscape has also been observed that are new to Pokemon Snap. Other starter Pokemon that have been shown in the trailer include Torchic, Grookey, Scorbunny, and Sobble. In other levels showed a Toucannon in its nest in the jungle, a Liepard sleeping on a rock near a waterfall, and a Hippowdon emerging from the sands of the desert. For players that are only used to the original 151 Pokemon from the Kanto region, they are for a surprise when they’re going to encounter even more Pokemon from more regions of the core series. It is unknown that all Pokemon will be included from the entire Pokemon World, but it is not probable after Pokemon Sword and Shield not having the complete National Dex for trainers to have in-game.

The graphics and work put into this game by the developers look very well managed and pampered. Surely, a long-awaited sequel to Pokemon Snap would bring out the best from developers at Gamefreak in order for players to have the best experience imaginable for a new look at a vintage classic. The idea to get old fans of the franchise involved goes hand-in-hand with making the game a sharable experience with new fans. This is even a more enjoyable experience if parents who played the original Pokemon Snap are looking to share the same experience with their children they are introducing to Pokemon Snap. In a celebration year for Pokemon, there is no better way to share this humbling experience.

The New Pokemon Snap will be available for purchase for the Nintendo Switch on April 30, 2021. At the end of the trailer, fans were able to pre-order the game upon its release this spring. The New Pokemon Snap will cost $59.99 (or US dollar equivalent) for Pokemon fans to order on the Nintendo eShop or any retailer that sells video games locally to purchase. This trailer for this new game is a perfect teaser to get trainers excited for more news that will celebrate more Pokemon celebrations for their anniversary this year. Even after all the announcements, the release of the New Pokemon Snap will be the first major gaming experience for Pokemon fans to take advantage of in order to get the celebration started on the right foot. Get those cameras ready, trainers; adventure awaits!
