On December 18, Donkey Kong Country 3 will come to Nintendo Switch Online, completing the Donkey Kong Country Super NES trilogy.

This month, five Nintendo classics — four Super NES and one NES — will be arriving on the Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo Entertainment System™ – Nintendo Switch Online. Headlining the batch is Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble!

The arrival of Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble! on December 18 will complete the entire Super NES trilogy on Nintendo Switch, which already has its predecessors Donkey Kong Country and Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest available to play via the online service. It has previously also been available via the Wii and Wii U Virtual Consoles. With so many new households owning a Switch though, it’s possible an entirely new generation will be introduced to the classic.

Released in 1996, Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong’s Double Trouble! sees Dixie Kong take on the starring role in a grand adventure. Alongside Kiddy Kong, the duo set out in search of the missing Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong.

More from Nintendo

Also arriving on Nintendo Switch via Nintendo Entertainment System™ – Nintendo Switch Online are the following Super NES titles: The Ignition Factor, Super Valis IV and Tuff E Nuff. Nightshade, released on NES, will also be added to the library.

Nintendo Switch Online members are granted access to this growing library which already features 95 classic games. Considering the service is already required to play some of the Switch’s best games online, it’s definitely a nice perk.

Other notable titles available are The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Super Metroid and Super Mario Bros. 3. Nintendo also recently released Super Mario Bros. 35, a competitive online battle game that puts a battle royale twist on the classic platformer. This game is playable for free through a Nintendo Switch Online membership until March 31, 2021.
