The Pokemon games have a lot of Pokemon, that can’t be disputed. Even though Sword and Shield cast out 234 Pokemon (a specific list that has convinced me that the game has future DLC plans)  that still leaves HUNDREDS of Pokemon.

But all those Pokemon’s mean nothing if that’s all there is. Luckily there isn’t. In addition to catching them all, there are so many other things you can do in this game. Finding all the hidden clothing items, locating shiny Pokemon (Pokemon that have a different color than normal), exploring ruins, solving puzzles, and even really secretive things like locating the Spiritomb and the fact that some Pokemon, like one that looks like a ghost in a teapot, has special markings directly on them that make them rarer.

All these things fill the game with wonder as you head out to track down massive birds or a giant Earth golem…or even surprise encounters with the worst Pokemon ever. All these things fill the game with things that keep this game in the forefront of your mind.
