In an event that completely caught me off guard as I received no notifications, Pokemon GO is finally compatible with Pokemon Home!

On November 10, with little fanfare, Pokemon GO finally became compatible with Pokemon Home.

The process is a little hard to find at first but it works really well. First, you need to go into Pokemon GO’s setting and look for where it says Pokemon Home on your phone, please note, you need to also have the Pokemon Home phone app on your phone to pull this off.

From there you can select the Pokemon you want to transfer from GO to Home. Please note, however, that you cannot bring anything into GO, only out. You also cannot transfer any of the event Pokemon so none of your Eevees with flowers or Pikachus in hats or Pokemon in costumes. None of those.

But it’s still cool to finally be able to do that.

When you transfer, you drain the energy from a machine that takes time to slowly recharge but I transferred three shinies, two legendaries and a few regular Pokemon and I still had energy left. Also, using the machine activates the box that allows you to search for Meltans.

Speaking of Meltans…

When you transfer your Pokemon from GO to Home for the first time, make sure to hop into the Pokemon Home app and check your Gift Box. Inside you’ll find an awesome Melmetal. This is a rare one capable of Gigantamaxing into an amazing stretchy form. Melmetal is the only Pokemon that is capable of Gigantamaxing but can’t be fed the soup so this is your one chance to snag it.

And honestly, it’s really cool looking plus its special move does ridiculous damage while also preventing the hit Pokemon from using the same move twice. Here’s my trainer throwing out my precious new metal man.

Hopefully more gets added to Pokemon GO’s transferring abilities as I’ve personally saved a ton of different Pikachus in costume and a Squirtle wearing a hat in the hopes of one day using them in Sword and Shield but for now, this is still really nice.
