Super Mario 3D All-Stars celebrates Mario’s anniversary by bringing Super Mario 64, Sunshine, and Galaxy to Nintendo Switch.

Over the last half a year there have been a plethora of rumors spreading about Nintendo releasing a collection of 3D Mario games. Rumors have spread and stretched so much that it seemed people were just making up things.

“Nintendo delaying release till next year.”

“Nintendo will remaster all 3D games from the ground up.”

“Mario deals with how to be a single father in a post-pandemic universe.” Okay, I made that last one up but I’d love that to be true.

Nintendo has finally stepped out from behind their emerald curtain and made an official announcement. Yes, Delilah, there is a 3D Mario Remake. In celebration of Mario’s 35th Anniversary, Nintendo will be releasing Super Mario 3D All-Stars, a collection of 3D Mario games.

And how long do we have to wait? 2021? 2022? Nope. It’s coming out in the middle of this month, September 18!. Yeah, I know, I’m hyped too.

So what games are in here? Let’s look.

Super Mario 64

While a lot of people are excited to see this 1996 original coming to the port, I am, admittedly, disappointed it won’t be the DS remake Super Mario 64 DS which let you play as four different characters with their own abilities (including Wario) and featured a plethora of fun mini-games including a literal blackjack game where Luigi, in suit and bowtie acted as your dealer. But it’s still good to see this game back and cry as I’d like to not be able to play as Wario anymore, I’ll still play and enjoy this.

Finally. Every single time people start talking about Nintendo re-releasing older titles this is usually one of the first titles to slip from people’s mouths. Since 2002 people have been wanting a return to this bizarre, water spraying title that introduced Bowser Jr. Now we finally get it. I’m excited for my chance to finally beat this game as I never had the game long enough to do.

Super Mario Galaxy

Personally, this is the one I’m most hyped about. Mostly for all the wrong reasons. I don’t have depth perception. Like, if you threw something to me I don’t know where it is distance-wise till it clocks me. But something about Mario Galaxy was able to give me vertigo and I weirdly loved it.

Apparently a lot of people loved this game though as it’s considered one of the greatest 3D titles that ever existed. Much like Nintendo’s other Mario collections, this is a timed-release that’s only going to last a little more than half a year but I can’t imagine anyone who wants this is going to sleep on it.

Honestly, my advice? Get it as soon as you can because I have a feeling scalpers are going to be snagging this like they did the Switch system itself.
