Be better than the last 15 years with the Washington Football Team

Outside of a couple of playoff appearances, the last 15 years have not been kind for the Washington Football Team, with questionable ownership and Bruce Allen doing what Bruce Allen does. As is the case for most rebuilds, the first thing that makes Washington a nice rebuild choice is the QB position.

You can go different routes with QB. If you think 70 OVR Dwayne Haskins Jr. is the answer, then you have your QB of the future (though you should find something to do with the higher paid Alex Smith (move him for a draft pick). Maybe you want to challenge yourself more and make 65 OVR QB Kyle Allen the main guy (I wouldn’t recommend that but you do you). Or maybe you plan to draft or trade for a QB. It’s really up to you.

But what you do have is a nice defense to keep you in games early on, some talented skill position players on offense, and parts of an offensive line. The o-line is anchored by 87 OVR RG Brandon Scherff. Then you have 75 OVR rated players at C and RT before things drop off to 65 OVR players. So you have some work to do there. To help whomever you decide to roll with at QB, you have a talented, young skill position player in WR Terry McLaurin (82 OVR 94 Speed) with some veterans you can choose to keep or move to get picks: HB Adrian Peterson (78 OVR), HB J.D. McKissic (76 OVR) and WR Cody Latimer (74 OVR). And then there’s HB Derrius Guice (81 OVR) who was recently cut by Washington after his arrest on domestic violence charges.

On defense, you can have a ton of fun using Washington’s 2020 1st round draft pick, RE Chase Young (80 OVR). With 85 speed, 86 strength and good pass rush moves, he has the potential to dominate the offense for years to come. There’s work to be done on defense, depending on your style of defense, but you have trade value (or can choose to keep) in these players rated 80+:

  • FS Kendall Fuller  – 86 OVR
  • DT Matthew Ioannidis – 86 OVR
  • LE Ryan Kerrigan – 84 OVR
  • DT Da’ron Payne – 83 OVR
  • DT Jonathan Allen – 82 OVR
  • SS Landon Collins – 81 OVR

The fun of this rebuild will be choosing which players you want to keep for your rebuild, and then also deciding what to do with the QB position. Make the right choices and you can be the GM that restores Washington to its former glory.
