Odin, the King of Asgard, is set to make his first physical appearance in Ubisoft’s franchise with Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. Will Odin’s role play a pivotal part in the story?

Odin, often referred to as the God of the Sky, Death, and even War, is going to be making his first physical appearance in the Assassin’s Creed franchise this fall. While some are speculating that Odin will not be a major role in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, others think that his famous raven that we saw in the trailer will have more of a key role than Odin himself.

In Norse Mythology Odin had a pair of ravens, Huginn and Muninn, who would fly all over the world in order to grant him information on everything that was going on. Odin always wanted to be very knowledgeable, after all he did trade one of his eyes for a drink from the Well of Wisdom in order to gain knowledge on past, present, and future events.

Near the end of the trailer we see a brief look of Odin standing behind a tree trunk while one of his famous ravens then begin to soar over the tree as Eivor yells, “Odin is with us!” This has sparked much conversation on that Odin’s ravens will guide Eivor throughout the main story of the game and act kind of as a guide just like Senu in Assassin’s Creed Origins.

The Hall of Valhalla is closely related to the Norse God Odin than most people may have thought. Valhalla is a Hall located in Asgard where fallen heroes, who were killed in battle, are sent to feast with Odin for eternity and help him in future battles. The fact that Assassin’s Creed Valhalla is titled the way it is makes me believe that Odin is going to have a much more major role when it comes to the brand new Viking Era. After all, Odin is the glue that holds Valhalla together in Norse Mythology and without Odin there wouldn’t be a Hall of Valhalla.

The game being revolved around Vikings and Valhalla makes me to believe that gamers might get the chance to play as Odin or fight alongside him at some point during the campaign. While I have no doubt there will be some interactions of Odin’s raven and most likely be Eivor’s sidekick through a majority of the game, that can’t be the only purpose for Odin on  a game centered around Valhalla.

I can’t really see Odin being a villain either becuase Odin was always a hero that did good for the sake of others. Odin’s role in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla would be more for the sake of good than evil, obviously.

I see Odin being a major sidekick to Eivor as they battle to be the best tribe of Vikings Valhalla has ever seen. With Assassin’s Creed Valhalla being the first and only game in the franchise to revolve around Vikings, Ubisoft has a massive opportunity to make this a legendary game in the franchise. The amount of hype around this game is enormous and I know Ubisoft won’t let their fans down.

With all that being said, I can’t really see any other option other than having Odin in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla a major character. I think that he will be mentioned more often than not and I also believe that he will act as Eivor’s guide through his quest to keep Valhalla safe of other Vikings. I would honestly be shocked and really disappointed if we didn’t see or hear about Odin more often than not in Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.

Assassin’s Creed Valhalla comes out later this fall and with Ubisoft ready to take on an Era of the Vikings in Valhalla we can be sure to expect to see Odin as a major piece to the story line. If we do not see Odin as much as the fans would like to, Ubisoft is going to be letting down a lot of fans. I do not see Ubisoft letting down their fans so expect a nice, crisp dosage of the Norse God in the next installment in the Assassin’s Creed franchise, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
