With the latest patch 10.7 releasing for Teamfight Tactics, Jhin has rose to become one of the strongest champions. Here’s how to carry Jhin in TFT Set 3.

TFT patch 10.7 last week make some slight tweaks and adjustments. A slight buff to Snipers, rework to Dark Star and nerfs to some particularly strong 5-cost champions, has resulted in a shift in the meta. A new champion has emerged as one of the strongest: Jhin.

While Jhin, himself, wasn’t actually touched, perhaps it was all of the changes happening around him that made him emerge as one of the strongest. Or maybe people just discovered you can one-shot most champions with his passive.

For those unfamiliar with the Virtuoso, Jhin is a Dark Sniper/Sniper. His ability, Whisper, is a passive that works like this:

"Jhin converts each 1% of bonus attack speed he has into 0.8 attack damage. Every fourth shot, Jhin deals a bonus percent of attack damage.Percent of Attack Damage: 244% / 344% / 4444%"

While I typically like to talk about strongest team comps in general, Jhin is sort of an outlier as he’s strong enough to carry the game as long as you give him some sort of protection and have the right items on him.

Best Items for Jhin

Starting with items, there is at least one must-have item:

  • Infinity Edge (BF Sword + Sparring Gloves)

This will give Jhin 100% Critical Strike damage.

Once you have that it’s a bit more flexible but I prefer these:

  • Guardian Angel (Chain Vest + BF Sword): This gives him survivability in case you go up against Infiltrators.
  • Guinsoo’s Rageblade (Needlessly Large Rod + Recurve Bow: Basic attacks grant +5% Attack Speed for the rest of combat With Jhin converting attack speed into attack damage, this will further boost his damage
  • Last Whisper (Recurve Bow + Sparring Gloves): When the wearer inflicts a critical hit the targets Armor is reduced by 90% for 3 seconds. This is great when facing heavily armored, defensive teams like Vanguards or Mech-Pilot.

Other optional items that are good for him: Bloodthirster (BF Sword + Negatron Cloak), Hand of Justice (Tear of the Goddess + Sparring Gloves), Giant Slayer (BF Sword + Recurve Bow).

Team Comps for Jhin

Again, Jhin is strong enough where you can place top four with just about any competent team comp. However, he’s got synergies with Dark Star (Jarvan IV, Mordekaiser, Karma, Lux, Shaco) and Snipers (Ashe, Caitlyn). Because of that, here are some of the stronger options.

Vanguards + Jhin Carry

At level 8, your team comp will look like this: 4 Vanguards, 2 Snipers, 2 Mystics, 2 Celestials, 3 Dark Star.

  • Poppy (Vanguard, Star Guardian) -1g
  • Mordekaiser (Vanguard, Dark Star) – 2g
  • Jayce (Vanguard, Space Pirate) – 3g
  • Karma (Mystic, Dark Star) – 3g
  • Ashe (Sniper, Celestial) – 3g
  • Wukong (Vanguard, Chrono) – 4g
  • Jhin (Sniper, Dark Star) – 4g
  • Lulu (Mystic, Celestial)

With this comp, you’ll get the following bonuses:

  • (4) Vanguard: 250 Armor for Vanguard champions
  • (3) Dark Star: When a Dark Star champion dies, all other Dark Star Champions gain +25 Attack Damage and Spell Power
  • (2) Sniper: Snipers deal 15% increased damage for each hex between themselves and their target
  • (2) Mystic: All allies gain 35 Magic Resistance
  • (2) Celestial: All allies heal for 15% of the damage they deal with spells and attacks

Dark Star + Jhin Carry

At level 8, your team comp will look like this: 6 Vanguards, 2 Snipers, 2 Mystics, 2 Celestials, 2 Vanguard. Honestly, this is just a variance of the previously mentioned comp, instead relying on Dark Star champions instead of Vanguards. Here are the champions you’ll have:

  • Jarvan IV (Dark Star, Protector) – 1g
  • Xayah (Celestial Blademaster) – 1g
  • Mordekaiser (Dark Star, Vanguard) – 2g
  • Ashe (Celestial, Sniper) – 3g
  • Karma (Dark Star, Mystic) – 3g
  • Jhin (Dark Star, Sniper) – 4g
  • Soraka (Star Guardian, Mystic) – 4g
  • Wukong (Chrono, Vanguard) – 4g

These are the bonuses you’ll get

  • (6) Dark Star: When a Dark Star champion dies, all other Dark Star Champions gain +35 Attack Damage and Spell Power
  • (2) Vanguard: 60 Armor for Vanguard champions
  • (2) Sniper: Snipers deal 15% increased damage for each hex between themselves and their target
  • (2) Mystic: All allies gain 35 Magic Resistance
  • (2) Celestial: All allies heal for 15% of the damage they deal with spells and attacks

Dark Star/Infilitrator

Alternatively, you can still go with 6 Dark Star and slightly tweak it to include Infiltrators instead of Vanguards. Your comp will look like this

  • Jarvan IV (Dark Star, Protector) – 1g
  • Sona (Rebel, Mystic) – 2g
  • Ashe (Celestial, Sniper) – 3g
  • Karma (Dark Star, Mystic) – 3g
  • Kassadin (Celestial, Mana-Reaver) -3g
  • Shaco (Dark Star, Infiltrator) – 3g
  • Jhin (Dark Star, Sniper) – 4g
  • Ekko (Cybernetic, Infiltrator) – 5g

If you’re going to go with this comp, try and get GA, IE, and BT on Shaco  and Morellonomicon, Rabadon’s Deathcap and Ionic Spark on Ekko.

Get creative with Jhin + Snipers

In lower rankings, just having Jhin with the right items and another sniper protected should be enough for a top four placement. I’ve gotten top four, pairing him with Chronos/Blademasters/Valkyrie such as Caitlyn, Blitzcrank, Shen, Jhin, Irelia, Kayle, and Wukong/Vi.
