Now that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is out, what can Nintendo Switch owners have to look forward to for the console in April?

Odds are if you own a Nintendo Switch, you’re probably deep into Animal Crossing: New Horizons. So you probably don’t care what’s coming to the console in the next month or two.

But maybe you’re not a fan of indentured servitude and you don’t feel like being beholden to Tom Nook. What can you look forward to in April for the Nintendo Switch?

In terms of blockbuster titles, not much. However, there seems to be at least five new indie games releasing on the console every week in April. Games like Totally Reliable Delivery Service, Pocket HarvestHyperParasite, Pen and Paper Games Bundle, eSports Legend are just some of the games you can get for around $15 or under.

Here are some of the bigger-named titles coming next month:

  • Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories – April 7
  • Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 4 – April 24
  • Trials of Mana – April 24
  • Minecraft Dungeons – April 2020

More from Nintendo Switch

These aren’t you’re typical system-selling AAA titles, but they are big in their respectful niche. Trials of Mana is a 3D remake of the 1995 action role-playing game originally released for the Super Famicom. The story follows six protagonists on their respective quests, leading them to obtain the Mana Sword and fighting to save the world.

Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories is the fourth entry in the series and it has quite the story behind it. Originally meant to be released for the PlayStation 3, production on the game was halted due to the the 2011 Tōhoku earthquake and tsunami and eventually cancelled shortly after. Development picked up again in late 2015 after chief producer Kazuma Kujo’s company, Granzella, acquired the IP for the Disaster Report series.

Announcements and delays continued for the next couple of years before the game finally launched in Japan on the PlayStation 4 in November 2018. Thanks to NIS America, Disaster Report 4: Summer Memories has been localized and will launch for the Switch on April 7.

The biggest game of April, however, still doesn’t have a release date. Minecraft Dungeons, the multiplayer action-adventure game set in the Minecraft universe, is slated to launch in April, but Microsoft has not announced when exactly. The game is inspired by classic dungeon crawlers and looks like a Minecraft version of Diablo.

I’m going to assume Minecraft Dungeons won’t release until late April, which means you’ve still got a bunch of time to complete tasks for Tom Nook and build up your island. Which Switch games are you looking forward to?
