Pokemon HOME on mobile devices supports four different ways to trade Pokemon: Wonder Box, Global Trade System, Room Trade or Friend Trade.

Launching in February 2020, Pokemon HOME is a new cloud service app that allows the transferring of Pokemon between games on different platforms. Trainers are able to deposit Pokemon caught in the games to the Pokemon Boxes in the cloud and then retrieve them in linked compatible games.

Pokémon Sword, Pokémon Shield, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu!, and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! are all compatible with the Nintendo Switch version of Pokemon HOME. Additionally, Pokemon HOME supports connectivity with the Nintendo 3DS’ Pokemon Bank, and support for Pokemon GO is in development.

Pokemon HOME supports the transfer of Pokemon back and forth between Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go, Eevee! or into Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield.  However once a Pokemon from Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Let’s Go, Eevee! is brought into Sword or Shield, it can not return to the original game.

So how do you trade Pokemon using Pokemon HOME on mobile devices? There are currently four different ways to trade: Wonder Box, Global Trade System, Room Trade or Friend Trade.

More from Game Guides

Wonder Box allows you to place Pokemon into a sort of virtual box which allows them to be traded even when you aren’t using Pokemon HOME. It’s a way to trade Pokemon without having to actually be around all the time.

The Global Trade System lets you specify which Pokemon you want to trade and which you want to receive. If there’s a match with another trainer, the Pokemon will be traded.

Room Trade is like an old AOL chatroom minus the creepiness.  Up to 20 people are allowed in a room, which can only be created by users enrolled in a paid Premium Plan. However, once you are inside of a room, you can trade for free.

The fourth and final option is Friend Trade. This is more of an old school approach, allowing you to trade with nearby users who are “friends” in Pokemon HOME.
