Madden 20: 5 biggest roster changes we’ll see in the Week 1 update
Carlos Hyde traded from Chiefs to Texans
Seriously, it seems like Bill O’Brien is playing Madden this offseason. Of the five biggest transactions this weekend, the Texans have been involved in three of them.
Over the weekend, the Texans traded former third-round offensive tackle Martinas Rankin to the Kansas City Chiefs for running back Carlos Hyde. Both players were expected to be released anyway, so the swap makes sense.
Carlos Hyde is rated 76 overall in Madden 20, and was buried on the Chiefs depth chart. With Damien Williams and the signing of LeSean McCoy, his departure probably won’t even be felt in the game.
The move adds depth to the Texans running back group which will be without Lamar Miller this season due to an ACL injury. Unless you’re playing with injuries turned on, Hyde won’t be more than a third option. If you do start CFM with injuries, then Hyde will complement the speedier Duke Johnson Jr. (80 OVR, 89 SPD, 90 ACC, 93 AGI).
Duke might be slightly faster and more elusive than Hyde (87 SPD, 90 ACC, 90 AGI), but the veteran makes up for it with 85 trucking.
Trimming to the 53-man rosters didn’t really provide much excitement, but thanks to the fantasy-type moves from Bill O’Brien and the Texans, there’s a lot to look forward to with the Madden 20 Week 1 roster update. As EA previously announced, the update is expected to arrive on Thursday, but the threat of Hurricane Dorian could delay it.
