6. Pokémon Sun & Moon

Pokémon has made one hell of a resurgence this year. A large part of that has to do with the introduction of the 7th generation of handheld titles: Pokémon Sun and Moon. Pokémon has yet again sucked us in with its cuteness. I mean just look at these Pokémon: a fire cat, doofy sea-lion, and dapper owl as starters? Come on! And the resurgence of classic Pokemon via Alolan forms is just flat-out genius. Who wouldn’t want a Dugtrio with golden locks of hair?

“Gotta catch ’em all” is still the name of the game, again taking advantage of gamers’ love of collecting ALL THE THINGS. There is something about seeking out those rare Pokémon and ticking those boxes in your Pokédex that is extremely gratifying. With online connectivity options for both trading and battling, playing with both friends and strangers continues to get easier. Plus, Sun and Moon continue to grow the series, introducing Z-moves and changing up the traditional Pokémon gyms to a new “trial format.”

The Pokémon franchise has always been one of the most addicting series in gaming, and Pokémon Sun and Moon continue that trend. Now what are you waiting for, go out there and “be the best like no one ever was!”
