Even when Kai Cenat isn't actively streaming, he's still the talk of Twitch and the content universe surrounding it. Though Cenat hasn't been live since October, prediction markets haven't stopped taking bets on how many subscribers he'll get this year.
Streamer YourRage created a maelstrom of speculation by declaring that Cenat isn't coming back to Twitch - ever.
"“Kai is on here?” YourRage said while studying the markets. “How many Twitch subscribers will Kai reach this year? Gang, how do I tell you, he retired from streaming. He’s not hitting none of this. He’s done. He’s a star now, he’s gonna be in movies and s*it.”
Cenat has been vocal about wanting to branch out into other entertainment venues, and has teased a streamer-themed movie with Kevin Hart and Druski.
Certainly, the streamer's level of fame will allow him to do just about anything he wants, including nothing. He's currently taking a break for his mental health amid a very public breakup with Gigi. Let's be honest, Twitch is a huge grind and not necessarily the best thing for mental health. It takes a lot of energy to go out there every day and be the center of attention.
It's similar to what comedians go through after getting the sitcom deal they've worked their whole life for. What will inspire you to go to the comedy club every night and try new material, occasionally failing, if you don't need the money anymore?
Maybe Cenat is simply taking a much-needed break. Maybe he has moved beyond Twitch. Or just maybe, even Kai Cenat doesn't yet know what Kai Cenat's next move is.
