WWE 2K26 ditches last gen editions

Motorhead's Line in the Sand, one of the best damn wrasslin' themes of all time, tells us that "evolution is a mystery, full of change that no one sees." But sadly, this change has been in the works for a while. With WWE 2K26' s March 13 release date rapidly approaching, its product listing is now on retail store sites.

It will land on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC. We were always going to end up here. At some point, the shiny new features we all want from our video games just exceed what the old hardware can reliably do. Sports (or sports entertainment) games are some of the most resource- intensive out there, what with hundreds of athletes and all their stats constantly needing to be simulated.

We've now reached the point at which PlayStation 4 owners are receiving time to upgrade messages from their consoles. We had great times, last-gen consoles. But now the publishers and hardware makers themselves are in the process of dragging the PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch out behind the woodshed to put them down.

The good news is that for those who have upgraded or plan to soon, the WWE 2K series has gone full Sheamus in recent years, delivering banger after banger. This year we'll get content from the Attitude Era, the Monday Night Wars, and an showcase featuring the Best in the World, the Voice of the Voiceless, the leader of WWE's Cult of Personality, CM Punk.
