WWE 2K24 was one of my favorite games last year. Between the best roster ever, an upgraded GM mode and a showcase that encompassed 40 years of Wrestlemania history, it was an experience for fans aged 8-80. I wasn't sure how WWE 2K25 could surpass it. Like Roman Reigns and The Bloodline, it will keep pushing for record-setting excellence.
Grand Theft - Austin?
2K's NBA series has long used The City as an open-world hub for all kinds of basketball adventures. Now WWE 2K25 will follow suit with "The Island," a virtual world that will allow players to become a WWE superstar. That is, if they can impress the Tribal Chief himself, Roman Reigns. It's so big it will only be available for players on the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. After completing challenges, unlocking achievements and battling other wrestlers, your character can earn a chance to join Roman Reigns on The Island of Relevancy. Have you got what it takes to join The Bloodline?
I Am The Intergender Champion
While intergender matches are fairly common in other wrestling promotions, the WWE typically frowns upon them. Other than isolated incidents such as Chyna's run with the Intercontinental Title, intergender matches don't happen. The most you'll get is a woman slapping a guy to interfere in a match, or the occasional accidental "Macho Man hides behind Elizabeth and gets her hit" type spot.
But fighting games are their own world, and in this world men and women fight each other as equals. Created characters or real superstars from the women's roster will be able to mix it up with the men in WWE 2K25. It's about time.
Tonight, You Will Go One on One With The Undertaker!
Fans all over the world rejoiced when GM Mode returned in WWE 2K23. I've never met a wrestling fan who didn't think they could run the show better than the booker. GM Mode is your chance to do so. Build the biggest feuds, settle them on the grandest stages, and reap all the financial rewards. You even decide who will be selling meat products of questionable nutritional value on the pre-show with their promos. How could it get any better?
I don't know, how about battling your friends in online GM battles? WWE 2K25's GM Mode features competition between up to four bookers with more General Managers, cross-branded events and of course, drafts that shake up the landscape.
This game is looking like the real deal. WWE 2K25 begins its long, elaborate entrance to the ring March 14. Here's a trailer:
