It is the first elimination match of VCT Masters Toronto, and Wolves Esports will face Team Heretics, with both teams fighting to keep their journey alive.
Both teams lost 0-2 in their first match, but as they moved on, they put that into their rear-view mirror and focused on each other.
Wolves would have the first map pick of the match, and it would be Pearl.
Wolves had a plan for Pearl and executed it, as they had started the map with a four-round win streak, having control of the site and just beating Team Heretics on the 1v1s.
That didn’t stop Team Heretics, though, as they would quickly show some life, winning three rounds in a row that would ignite an epic back-and-forth between the two.
Still, even with the back and forth, the Wolves would be entering the half with a big lead of 8-4
In round 12, the first round after halftime, Wolves Juicy would get a big ace on B site, giving his team an economic boost.
However, the boost didn’t do much, as Team Heretics would quickly fire back and mount a comeback that would get them to 10 and cut the lead to one round, making the score 10-11.
Unfortunately for Team Heretic, Wolves Esports smelled blood in the water and closed out the match 13-10.
Map MVP would be Spring with 24 Kills, 14 Deaths and 6 Assists.
Team Heretics would now be 0-1 in this series on the verge of elimination, and would need a lifeline.
Heading into map two, Team Heretics pick, Lotus, the EMEA team wouldn’t get the lifeline they needed starting on the defence, as Wolves Esports would hound them on the attackers' side and win 6 rounds in a row.
Team Heretics would take a timeout to stop Wolves Esports' momentum and to go over their game plan, which would work for them as they would get one round.
Wolves wanted to kill any momentum before they got hot, so they would have a timeout of their own and take a round, extending their lead to 7-1.
Team Heretics would gain momentum again, and this time it would stick.
By halftime, Team Heretics would be just two rounds behind Wolves and would cut the lead to 7-5.
By the time the second half started, Team Heretics would tie the game up, but the Spanish team wouldn’t be able to capitalize.
Wolves Esports would dominate and get the victory, effectively kicking Team Heretics out of VCT Masters Toronto.
The match MVP would be Wolves Esports’ Spirit, who had 44 Kills, 29 Deaths and 11 Assists.
Wolves Esports will be moving on to round 3 and will face BiliBili Gaming in a do-or-die match-up for one of the two final places in the playoff stage.
