No. 3 - Heart of Darkness

Heart of Darkness is another newer quest which fits the mold of “quests that would be rated higher if they were released 10+ years ago”.

This quest is compelling throughout, both from a storyline standpoint and a challenge standpoint, and it is far more difficult than what you’d expect from an Experienced quest.

There is danger throughout, including the fight against Prince Itzla Arkan after taking on several waves of additional enemies, and it is capped off with an exciting journey throughout the Ruins of Tapoyauik before a battle with the Amoxliatl.

This fight is a Master-level boss fight featuring two unique ice-based special attacks and should not be taken lightly.

It is also worth pointing out that this quest was the top quest of the four released as a part of the second batch of Varlamore quests. Part one, which also featured four quests, saw its own top quest, Perilous Moons, appropriately classified as a Master quest, and the plan is for part three to see its top quest, The Final Dawn, classified as the same.

There’s no reason this one should not have been listed one tier higher than it is.

One thing we do want to point out here is that after the quest, the Amoxliatl can be fought again as a regular boss, which adds a nice touch.
