Behold, the Don't Watch psychological horror universe. BrokenLore: Don't Lie is a spinoff about Junko, a young woman who lives an isolated life that's causing her to lose her grip on reality. The PC Gaming Show Tokyo Direct was our first look at it, and it's sufficiently creepy.
Junko has attended therapy for her issues, where she met, Shinji, the star of Don't Watch. The game's first-person view takes place both in her apartment and inside her tortured mind.
“DON’T LIE represents an important step for us: it’s a new, unsettling story that expands the BrokenLore universe. We’re excited to continue the series,” Sebastiano Serafini, the creator of Serafini Productions, said. “Wired has always championed bold initiatives, often addressing social issues, and it’s inspiring to work with a partner like that. We hope the BrokenLore series will keep growing, also thanks to this collaboration.”
Serafini Productions specializes in horror games, wanting to resonate with players on an emotional level. I expect I'll have a few nighthmares based on this trailer alone, so they're accomplishing their mission. Other installments from them include BrokenLore: Low, set in a beautiful, mist-covered Japanese village in which the player will battle the Gashadokoro, a yokai from folklore.
Wired Productions has brought us games including Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks, Hotel Architect, KARMA: The Dark World, DIG VR, Gori: Cuddly Carnage, Bulwark: Falconeer Chronicles, Arcade Paradise VR, Martha Is Dead, The Falconeer, and Deliver Us the Moon.
At this show, Wired revealed both BrokenLore: Don't Lie and Task Time, a chaotic party game from one of the minds behind Fall Guys.
