This may be the best running back build in Madden 25

Shout out to all the diehards still grinding Madden 25 Ultimate Team in almost May. One of the benefits of that is the insane players we're getting at this stage of the game to keep people engaged. Many have some of the best abilities in the game for 0 Ability Points. Keeping that in mind, here's a running back build I'm seeing a lot of. As we're almost done for the year, this may not be improved upon.

Tank

MUT is a card-collecting mode. If there's one thing I've learned from playing card games, it's that cards that break the rules tend to be powerful. The Tank ability breaks hit stick tackles, which are one of a defender's best weapons in the open field. 90 percent of the first Madden deep dive was talking about how important stick skills would be this year. Tank allows your player to get squared up by Ray Lewis and just go "No thanks, headed to the endzone now." It's probably too powerful, but that's a rant for a different time. You want Tank on your primary ballcarrier.

Jukebox

This ability gives your player steerable juke animations. It's one of the key abilities for taking opponents' ankles as if you're on a basketball court. By the way, a lot of top players are putting this ability on wide receivers as well. Sometimes, escaping one tackle in the open field is all that's necessary to score.

Human Joystick

Running backs, pound for pound, are already better than defenders at switching speeds and directions. Human Joystick turns your player into the best of the best at switching momentum, changing direction, and turning corners without losing speed. With this ability equipped, you're a Maserati racing against tanks.

Spin Cycle

I saved the best for last. This ability gives steerable spin animations, so it combos well with Jukebox. It's easy to put would-be tacklers in a blender with this ability. Obviously, it works best on runners who are naturally shifty in the open field, such as Saquon Barkley or Christian McCaffrey.

Many players swear by the "Judkins Spin," named for how disrespectful Quinshon Judkins was at the launch of College Football 25. To do this, you start sprinting with the RT/R2 button, then release the button before performing the spin move. This gives a quick spin that often leaves defenders mixed up.

A runner fully kitted out with all these moves will break devastating tackles, leave defenders grasping for air in the open field, and send them spiraling toward the sidelines as they quickly switch direction. And with the various discounts on AP, you can put the build together for less than 2 AP in many cases. Try this out on some of your favorite runners and see what kind of stats you pile up!
