This game lost WB more than $200 million, but we can download it for free

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will go down as a colossal flop for Warner Bros. In fact, the estimated $200 million loss on the underwhelming shooter has caused it to reconsider the way its gaming division does business.

It sounds like just the sort of game worth trying at no risk, which is what PlayStation Plus subscribers will get to do this month. The ill-fated live service offering is a PlayStation Plus free game, allowing players to decide for themselves if it's worth space on their hard drives.

The failure of Kill The Justice League will be studied in this industry for decades. In its continual efforts to turn the Suicide Squad into its own version of Guardians of The Galaxy, Warner Bros. never considered giving us a Justice League game.

You know, Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman? The heroes who people already love that you wouldn't have to force down our throats? Had they just flipped the antagonists and protagonists of this game, they could have taken our money. Multiple people at WB said nope, let's give them King Shark and Captain Boomerang instead.

I say this as somebody who has read Flash comics since I was a tiny tot. There are about 30 characters I would have rather played as than Capt. Boomerang and I love the guy. Players will join just in time for the game's final season and get to experience its upcoming offline mode. The Suicide Squad servers are likely not long for this world considering the bath WB took on this game.

Anyhow, PS Plus' January offerings also include Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe.
