We told you not that long ago that arcade classic Wrestlefest was making a comeback in its classic cabinet form. Neo's Arcade News has ferreted out some further details for the recreation of this legendary machine:
- Approx. 68" height (roughly 6" taller than the "Ultra" cabinet shown at left) and greater width
- 19" BOE screen (the BOE brand being reported by an independent source), which is 2" larger than the Ultra
- Stereo speakers with grille covers
- Faux coin door
- 4-player controls
- Larger, light-up marquee
- More games (typically) than other models in the lineup
- A club store exclusive (Costco is rumored, but unconfirmed)
- Price TBD, but expected to be around $600
Games included in the Ultra Cabinet will be Wrestlefest, WWE Superstars, Super Dodge Ball, The Big Pro Wrestling, and Acrobatic Dog Fight.
Sadly, there are often licensing issues with classic games, and this one has a few. Neo's reporting that Sgt. Slaughter and the Legion of Doom/Road Warriors won't appear in the game. I wouldn't be surprised to see Demolition pinch-hit for LOD, as their gimmick was notoriously close to the Road Warriors to begin with.
The 1991 classic featured two modes: the Royal Rumble and Main Event, a tag team tournament, which would be a great place for Demolition.
If a potentially $600 arcade cabinet is more money or playing space than you can spare right now, Retromania Wrestling is a spiritual successor available on home consoles. Its roster will hit wrestling fans of a certain age right in the feels, including the likes of Randy Savage, Austin Idol, and The Rock N' Roll Express.
