If you’re like me, you’ve probably noticed that tons of board games are making the transition to video games. We’ve always had console and PC versions of games like Monopoly, but in more recent years, we’ve seen video game adaptations of everything from Wingspan to Clue, Ticket to Ride, Catan, and more.

The latest board game to make the leap is Sorry! Now on mobile, Sorry! World was created by Gameberry Labs, who are known for their hit mobile game LUDO Star. As of this writing, the game already has over 50 million downloads on the Google Play store alone, and it certainly set the studio up to take on a gaming legend like Sorry! AppTrigger was able to speak with Afsar Ahmad, the co-founder of Gameberry Labs, to ask about the new game and our collective love of board game video games.

AppTrigger: How did you get involved in bringing an iconic game like Sorry! to mobile?

Afsar Ahmad: We’ve always been drawn to games that bring people together, so when the opportunity came to partner with Hasbro and bring Sorry! to mobile for the very first time, it felt like a natural fit.

We already had experience building multiplayer board games like Ludo Star, and Sorry! was a title we deeply respected for its timeless blend of playful rivalry and family fun. The chance to reimagine that energy for mobile, while working directly with Hasbro to honor the original, was an opportunity that we couldn’t pass up.

I notice there's a big trend of board games making the transition to video games. What do you think makes video game versions of board games so popular?

Board games have always been about connection, and I think digital platforms give those moments a new life. What makes them so popular in mobile form is that you can now capture that same experience without needing everyone in the same room or around a table.

On mobile, it’s easy to challenge friends or connect with family, no matter where they are in the world. Mobile also allows for fun additions to the game, while still holding onto the nostalgia of the original game.

What can fans expect from Sorry! World? Any fun twists or surprises that make it different from the board game version to play?

Sorry! World is all about keeping the heart of the original game, but bringing it into a vibrant, quick mobile experience. Fans will definitely recognize the core gameplay, but there are some fun twists that make it feel fresh and made for mobile.

We’ve added quirky characters and lively animations that give the game real personality. Players can build towns, compete in ranked leagues, take on daily tasks, and even attack other players’ cities. It’s a new layer of competitive fun that deepens the experience, without losing the charm of the original.

You can check out Sorry! World for Android and iPhone now.
