The series DC K.O. features 32 heroes and villains fighting to gain enough power to defeat the villain Darkseid. But even more than that, it's giving us answers to some of the best "What If They Fought?" questions of all time. Characters from The Boys, Vampirella, and even the murderous doll Annabelle will be on hand. At New York Comic Con's Jim Lee and Friends panel, the DC President and Chief Creative Officer confirmed Sub-Zero will make his attempt to finish someone.
"We thought it would be really cool to pull in characters from outside the DC multiverse and kind of spice things up,” Lee said during the panel. Sub-Zero will appear in the series' February issue. Lee also joked that there would be a Death of Sub-Zero special coming soon.
2008's Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe pit these characters against each other in a game, but we've never seen the characters in the DC Universe proper. That game drew mixed feelings from the fanbase as it had to tone down the violence, since Warner Bros. was not about to let Batman or Superman get beheaded. The only people allowed to kill DC characters for shock value are DC Comics, dang it. If this appearance goes well, I suspect we will see Mortal Kombat characters in other places where it makes sense.
