The XCOM game series is one of the few things I love as much as Star Wars. I never imagined the two of them having a baby, but here we are. At Star Wars Celebration Japan, we got our biggest glimpse yet at Star Wars Zero Company, a turn-based tactics game set during the Clone Wars era. Here's the incredible trailer:

Zero Company will star Hawks, a former Republic officer who realized he was fighting for the wrong side. Now he fights with an elite squad of new Star Wars characters against an enemy that threatens the entire galaxy.

"Our vision forStar Wars Zero Company is grounded in gameplay design pillars that weave in the immersive Star Wars galaxy with engaging turn-based tactics gameplay,” Greg Foertsch, CEO and Creative Director at Bit Reactor said. “It’s our aim to deliver a game with an original Star Wars story from the Clone Wars era that has meaningful outcomes from player choices, and deep turn-based tactical combat with an approachable and cinematic presentation.”

Bit Reactor is a studio composed of folks with an incredible pedigree. They've worked on games including Civilization, Gears of War, Elder Scrolls Online, and, of course, XCOM. They're working with Respawn Entertainment and Lucasfilm Games to bring this one to us sometime in 2026.

Hawks' class and appearance are completely customizable. Recruited operatives are as well and can come from a variety of backgrounds including Clone Troopers, astromechs, and Jedi.

“At Lucasfilm Games, we’re huge tactics fans and we have wanted to make a game like this for a long time,” Douglas Reilly, GM & VP, Lucasfilm Games said. “The best tactics games are all about meaningful choices, and we’re confident we have chosen the right squad in Bit Reactor to deliver a compelling and innovative title that is authentic to Star Wars.”

Between missions, you can return to your base of operations and gather intel that will give you an advantage in the field. During battle, your team will grow closer and unlock synergies that make you even more powerful. Zero Company will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and PC in 2026.
