Despite the heartfelt pleas of Star Wars Battlefront II players, it doesn't seem like we're even a step closer to getting a third installment. So modders have begun doing the work themselves. KYBER, a community-hosted Battlefront II game launcher, has added beloved franchise characters and new features to the popular Star Wars shooter.
Among the new characters are Star Wars Jedi Survivor hero Cal Kestis and Asaj Ventress, a fan-favorite from The Clone Wars. It also features a dedicated Discord server, spectator mode, and proximity voice chat.
KYBER's open beta started December 20 and got more than one million sessions in its first 48 hours.

While it seems that EA and Disney have moved on, announcing several games that have absolutely nothing to do with Battlefront, a legion of diehard players including NBA star Kyrie Irving never have. Battlefront 2's launch was marred by a predatory monetization scheme that was removed after a huge backlash, but the damage was done.
The game never became the huge hit that you would expect from "Star Wars: Call of Duty," which is a niche that again, Star Wars Battlefront 2 fills absolutely flawlessly. You begin the game as rank and file soldiers such as clone troopers or Rebel soldiers, with the killstreaks being named Star Wars characters.
It's the only licensed shooter sandbox in which Kylo Ren can chase down Yoda. If you can see him, the little flippy, Force-using- sorry, sorry, bad Yoda flashbacks. There's no end date for the beta yet, but I wouldn't wait too long if you're interested in playing it. You never know when the Dark Side of the legal force might step in and try to shut things down.
