Soon PS4 games will not be offered monthly on PlayStation Plus

Sony has made a big announcement in regards to their PlayStation Plus service. Sony stated that most of their players at this point in time has made the switch to PS5 and are currently playing on a PlayStation 5 console. Because of that, most players that use PlayStation Plus have redeemed the PlayStation 5 titles and less of the PlayStation 4 options that are offered monthly. Since the player base has evolved into using more PS5 games, Sony will evolve as well. Starting in 2026, Sony will cease offering PlayStation 4 games as part of the monthly PlayStation Plus benefit.

This doesn't mean that they are going to stop offering them permanently, but instead they are just going to offer them occasionally. Meaning during the course of 2026, you may see a free PlayStation 4 game pop up here and there, but definitely not every month like you have been used to.

The other good news that Sony provided us was that any current PlayStation 4 games you have gotten from their service and have downloaded will not be affected by this change. You will also still be able to play any PlayStation 4 games as part of the Game Catalog as long as Sony doesn't decide to remove them from time to time.

This move by Sony makes complete sense. We are in the latter stages of the PlayStation 5 era. If you aren't playing on a PlayStation 5 by now, chances are you probably aren't going to be.

This wasn't the only news that Sony has decided to drop in terms of PlayStation Plus. Sony has also announced the expected offerings of games that we can expect to see in February 2025 lineup. Those games include Payday 3 (PS5), High on Life (PS4, PS5), and Pac-Man World Re-Pac (PS4, PS5). You will be able to download these February titles from February 4 through March 3.

If any of those free games that are part of the February lineup interests you, download them and give them a try. They are completely free to download as part of the PlayStation Plus service.
