The Boogeyman himself, Michael Myers, is coming to PlayStation 5 on Sept. 8, 2026 in a new Halloween game. It will have a single-player campaign in addition to the asymmetrical multiplayer madness.

As Michael Myers, you will terrorize the residents of Haddonfield, Developer Illfonic promises all sorts of creative ways to execute the poor unsuspecting civilains of this tiny suburban town. As one of the residents, you can warn others, convince people to call the authorities, and even knock The Shape down, but you won't be able to kill him. When enough police presence is in play, he can be detained.

On the PlayStation Blog, Illfonic's Social Media Manager Miles Dompier explained the vibe this game is going for.

"From its earliest iterations, Halloween has been crafted to deliver an immersive horror sandbox experience that can be enjoyed through a standalone single-player story or dynamic asymmetrical multiplayer matches," Dompier said. "We wanted to empower players to create their very own horror movie moments, whether they’re stepping behind the mask of Michael Myers or taking the role of one of the heroic residents of Haddonfield. Our team is working diligently to ensure this quiet suburban town is brimming with 70s-era charm and effectively serves as a virtual playground filled with innocent townsfolk that players can either save or slaughter."

Of course, the spectre of Dead By Daylight hangs over this and every other asymmetrical horror game that has entered this space. Illfonic has fired several shots into this space, including Friday The 13th, Predator: Hunting Grounds, and Killer Klowns From Outer Space. Maybe this one will be the one that breaks the streak!
