Is it even an awards show unless major announcements leak out weeks before the event? One of the most persistent rumors before The Game Awards December 11 is that a big Star Wars game announcement is on the horizon.
Insider Kurakasis has dropped this little nugget on info on X:
A big Star Wars game announcement is coming very soon.
— Kurakasis (@Kurakasis) December 3, 2025
And just to be clear, this announcement has nothing to do with Star Wars: Zero Company or Eclipse.
Considering Ubisoft seldom misses a chance to remind us Star Wars Outlaws underperformed, pretty sure it's not a sequel to that effort. Sorry Kay Vess, I'm having a bunch of fun breaking into vaults with you and Nix.
As I've mentioned, I am super hyped about Star Wars: Zero Company, but according to Kurakasis, this ain't that. I still want to hear some info soon about the Star Wars Universe's answer to XCOM: Enemy Within.
Maybe the juiciest rumor is that the project will be Total War: Star Wars. The Total War 25th Anniversary Showcase just happened, and left us with the news that a new game announcement will come during The Game Awards broadcast. Look, most Star Wars games are a "Shut Up and Take My Money" situation for me, but to see full scale Star Wars battles in a Total War setting? Lawd, yes.
This idea would be awesome, but it may be the least likely scenario of them all. As I mentioned not that long ago, thanks to some perfectly timed sales and Twitch streams, thousands of players have realized Star Wars Battlefront II is actually a really good game. Could EA or somebody make those players, who include NBA superstar Kyrie Irving, happy?
