The news coming out about WWE 2K26 is all good, y'all. Insider Gaming's Mike Straw is reporting that we'll see four new match types in the game, including two we haven't seen since WWE 2K13. Straw says 2K26 will bring the return of the I Quit match, in which two competitors pummel each other until one of them finally must scream "I Quit" in dramatic wrasslin' fashion. Perhaps the most famous of these took place between Mick Foley and The Rock at the 1999 Royal Rumble.
Also returning for the first time since WWE 2K13 is the Inferno Match, in which you must set your opponent on fire. Kane was considered the master of this match, which meant he lost almost every one he was in. The more damage you do to your opponent, the higher the flames get. Honestly, this match type is ridiculous even by pro wrestling standards. But in a video game, you're not tasked with making it look believable. In this reality, the fire and the injuries it inflicts are perfectly legit.
The Three Stages of Hell match is two out of three falls, with each fall having a different stipulation. Drew McIntyre just defeated Cody Rhodes in one of these, capturing the championship on Smackdown and shocking the world. I can't wait to replicate the career-making moment in WWE 2K26.
The final new match is a Dumpster Match. Hey, they already have a Casket Match and the same mechanics would likely be usable here. The most famous Dumpster Match in WWE history took place at Wrestlemania XIV as Cactus Jack and Terry Funk, in his guise as Chainsaw Charlie, defeated the New Age Outlaws in a brutal and violent match.
